Your Right to A Good Faith Estimate
Under the law, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
What this means for you:
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected costs of any non-emergency health care services, including psychotherapy.
If you are uninsured or choose not to use your insurance, your provider is required to give you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your scheduled service.
You may also request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling a service.
If you receive a bill that is $400 or more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.
Be sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.
